Why Do We Laser Cut Stickers?

At sticker gizmo we have 3 different machines for cutting stickers to the correct shape and size. Our biggest and the most fun is our industry leading laser cutter! Continue reading to find out why laser cutting and stickers go together like bread and butter.

Why are laser cutters so good at cutting stickers?

Compared to other methods like using metal dies or knifes, laser cutters are extremely flexible and save time during the finishing process. The main reason for this is because no new hardware needs to purchased or installed on the machine for each different print run. Normally if a customer wanted a unique size or shape, a die would need to be ordered adding extra cost. We can laser cut pretty much any shape or size stickers within the same print run and that’s only scratching the surface.

Flexibility

We pride ourselves on working with new companies, many of which are start-ups. These companies don’t need to order thousands of stickers. Usually, they require small quantities of a few different designs. Laser cutters are the perfect solution to custom small print runs like this. After the order has been imposed by our print team, the laser starts up and completes the job in minutes with no down time between each order on that set material. We can also easily control the strength of the laser which enables us to swap between kiss cutting (cutting through the label material but not the backing paper) and die cutting material (cutting all the way through to create individual stickers) within the same run of material.

Accuracy

Our laser cutter is extremely accurate and very quick. This means we can keep to our tight deadlines while not having any impact on our high-quality standards. Like all printing equipment, sometimes small adjustments may need to be made during a print run and this is also very easy with the help of intelligent software.

Longevity

Laser cutting is classed as ‘contactless cutting’ meaning the only thing touching the sticker material is the laser beam. Theres no friction involved in the process like with other more traditional cutting methods. As there isn’t a blade or metal die to get worn out, quality control is easier to stay on top of and the machine requires less new parts to keep it working at its best. All of this means you get your sticker sooner; with the best quality cuts the industry has to offer.

Automation

Print runs require little manpower as modern laser cutting machinery is highly automated. Our experienced finishing team still plays a role in the final quality, but the speed of the laser cutter combined with little to no need of manual labour results in an ideal method for cutting stickers.
